With the first 4 A380’s being delivered this year along with the first of 70 B787’s 2015 is shaping up to be a big year for pilot recruitment for middle east power house Etihad Airways.
Reports from within the company suggest up to 250 pilots will be recruited this year alone with a further 500 required over the coming years. Having successfully prepared several candidates recently we have decided to share our knowledge of the recruitment process with our readers.
The recruitment process is conducted In Abu Dhabi over a period of three days. Candidates are provided with air tickets, hotel accommodation, allowances and all local transport. Below is a breakdown of what occurs on each particular day. Progression to the next stage is dependent on successfully completing each particular activity.
Day 1.
- Simulator assessment.
- General knowledge test (Non type rated) Technical Exam (Type rated)
- Online English language test.
Day 2.
- Group exercise.
- Psychometric tests – Maths, Numeric reasoning, I.Q and verbal reasoning.
- Panel Interview.
Day 3.
- Medical assessment. Conducted by Etihad company doctor.
The panel interview is conducted by a pilot manager and a representative from the H.R. department. The interview lasts for approximately 45 minutes and consists of both technical and behavioral questions.
